Experience a personal tapestry of memories, family and identity with renowned Swiss artist Camilla Parini. ‘je suisse (or not)’ invites audiences on a one-of-a-kind journey. Through fragmented photographs, playful storytelling, and a surprising polar bear encounter, Camilla explores the complex threads that weave our sense of self. Are we defined by our memories? Where do we truly belong? ‘je suisse (or not)’ delves into these questions with humour, vulnerability and a touch of the fantastical.

Collettivo Treppenwitz is co-founded by six associated independent artists who live in the Italian speaking part of Switzerland and work in constant synergy within and outside the regional borders. Camilla Parini – one of the artists in the Collective – pursues her own authorial practice that moves between theatre, performance, photography and installation, placing at the centre of her research a multifaceted reflection on identity and its vulnerability.

Project supported by Pro Helvetia – Swiss Foundation for Culture, DECS Republic and Canton Ticino – Swisslos Fund, Ernst Göhner Foundation, Landis & Gyr Foundation, Edith Maryon Foundation, Johnson Foundation, City of Lugano, Municipality of Agno.

GIFT, North East England’s platform for contemporary performance, returns this May with a vibrant programme of live performances, immersive installations, creative workshops and thought-provoking discussions.

This year’s festival promises a unique and unforgettable experience across Gateshead town centre and beyond.

GIFT takes on different formats each year, working in new spaces and locations, and involving new communities of participants. GIFT provides a place for professional development for artists, and an opportunity for audiences and participants to engage in performances that wouldn’t otherwise be presented in the region.
